EPSTEIN-BARR VIRUS, ANTIBODY TO EARLY ANTIGEN (D), IgG
Primary infection by EBV causes Infectious mononucleosis, usually a selflimiting disease in children and young adults. Infection with EBV can cause lymphoproliferative disorders including tumors. Early Antigen D Antibody appears approximately 1 month after infection and typically is transient lasting only 1-2 months. Persistently elevated levels suggest reactivation or persistence of EBV infection.
