FISH - t (12;21) or LSI TEL/AML1
Translocation t(12;21) fuses two genes namely TEL gene on 12p13 & AML1 gene on 21q22. It is seen in about 3% of adult Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) cases but is the most common genetic rearrangement in B-lineage paediatric ALL (25%). Pediatric ALL cases positive for this translocation have a good prognosis & maybe treated with less intensive therapy.
