PROTEIN S ANTIGEN, TOTAL

This assay is useful for investigation of patients with a history of thrombosis. Congenital Protein S deficiency is an autosomal dominant disorder present in 2-6% patients with Venous thrombosis. These patients show a 10 fold increased risk of venous thrombosis and in addition may also suffer from recurrent miscarriage, intrauterine growth retardation, stillbirths and arterial thrombosis.
