TRYPTOPHAN, QUANTITATIVE, PLASMA
Amino Acid analysis is necessary for the diagnosis of a variety of inborn errors of metabolism. These include, but are not limited to, phenylketonuria, tyrosinemia, citrullinemia, non-ketotic hyperglycinemia, maple syrup urine disease, and homocystinuria. The assay is also key for the continued monitoring of treatment plans for these disorders and useful for assessing nutritional status of patients.

Report Frequency: Sample by 10th of the month in NRL; Report after 2-3 weeks
Special Instruction: Collect Sample in first week of the month. Sample should reach NRL by or before 10th of the same month. Overnight fasting or atleast 4 hours fast after a meal is mandatory. Non-fasting pediatric samples acceptable. Duly filled Test Send Out Consent Form (Form 35) is mandatory.
